Important Sticks
Without these we wouldn't have the railroad system. This image was taken yesterday outside of a paper mill. Their first life involved transportation. Their second life will be related to communication.
Hi Mike, What is it about a stack of sticks (or bricks or anything) that makes such an interesting picture? I guess it's the wonderful texture/patterns that are created. Makes it hard to pass up a stack of anything without bringing out the camera. This one works well in black and white.

Hi Kari,
ReplyDeleteYou've stated it well... the random shadows and highlights caught my attention. I thought it might work in B&W. Thanks for your comment!
The amazing part is that you found an active paper mill!
ReplyDeletevery interesting photo. Makes me want to get back to playing with black and white.
Wow - just seeing them reminds me of days I used to walk along the tracks in eastern washington - smelling the hot tar along them burning in the sun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan - Newberg. B&W is way fun, especially when you start seeing things in B&W.
ReplyDeleteStacey,
ReplyDeleteYou squeaked in while I was making the last comment. I forgot about the smell they have in the summer. Good point!
Hi Mike, and I guess one day the paper will get recycled.
ReplyDeleteRoy,
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that it keeps recycling.
