Keeper's House

This is the keeper's house for Heceta Head Lighthouse on the central Oregon coast.  The fog was rolling in on Thursday afternoon which made the lighthouse not visible and the keeper's house barely visible.  Both of these structures are probably two of the most photographed landmarks on the Oregon coast.

  1. Nice capture of the keeper's house. I like the mist at the coast. Yes it makes for cold, damp, camping, but it's very scenic. Too bad the lighthouse didn't peak through for you.

  4. Kari,
The fog played cat-and-mouse while I was riding up the coast. Some areas were nice and clear but the wind was strong that day. I was anticipating a nice shot of the lighthouse but I think I got there a little too late. I'd like to be there in the morning too to see how the light hits it. Thank you!

    Stacey,
Thank you! I agree with you and Kari, I like the fog; especially how it adds a filter to photos.

    Pat,
    Thank you!

  5. Oh just gorgeous!!! 2 days and counting! I plan to spend a few days at Cannon Beach within the next few weeks. How far is this place from Cannon?

  6. Yolanda,
I just Google-mapped it and it's about 146 miles south on 101 with an estimated time of about 4 hours. It's south of Newport, Waldport and Yachats. It's actually closer to Florence - about 20 miles north. It would be quite a trip from Cannon Beach but if you're ever down in Eugene and have time to go over to the coast you'd end up in Florence. Then it's only 20 miles away.

So you'll be here for the 4th! Sounds great, Yolanda!
